I have to admit, I was sick as a dog in Beijing. I tried to blog and each time I would start feeling migrainey and nauseous. I prayed so so very hard for God to help me with my health and make me feel well enough to meet our son yesterday. He came through as He very often does. Yesterday was the very first day I felt back to my normal self.

Our entire group of us went yesterday to the child registration office. We boarded the bus at 9:30 am , all anxious , excited , and nervous. I can’t even tell you how excited josh and I were.  Neither of us slept and since we were both awake at 4:45, we got our bathing suits on and took a swim. All we could do was imagine our first encounter with jack.

We arrived at 10:00 , walked inside and immediately we saw him. He was dressed in a new little black military coat, jeans, and sneakers. He was littler than I thought which immediately made me happy. I knew I could still hold him if I wanted. He went to us right away , honestly he never even looked back. We are in total awe over this kid. He’s a total stud and rockstar.

After we waited for the very last family to get their child, (how emotional for those last waiting families who would just watch as each child kept showing up and theirs didn’t.) we gave jack lots of snacks, played with bubbles and cars, signed some papers and then we boarded the bus to the hotel. And just like that he was our son.

First day was an amazing one.  I’m typing as he sleeps next to me. It’s 7:25 am and he’s been asleep all night long. Can you imagine how emotionally draining yesterday was for him? Poor sweet baby. I’ll never know the thoughts that ran through his head and will continue to run through his head. All I know is that for now things are good. Very very good.
